Glastonbury Abbey has made it through to the next stage of the Somerset Business Awards, having been shortlisted for the Best Use of Digital Technology category.

The Best Use of Digital Technology category is a new category, introduced for this year’s awards. It celebrates unique, creative uses of innovative digital technology – such as our Glastonbury Stories app.

The Glastonbury Stories app was launched in March this year. It is an immersive, augmented reality (AR) quest that guides visitors through the abbey ruins and invites them to uncover the site’s stories and mysteries.

By using the app, visitors can view impressive reconstructions of the abbey buildings, discover real-life artefacts uncovered on the site and learn about some of the abbey’s medieval inhabitants. You can read more about the app here.

The winner of the Best Use of Digital Technology award will be announced at the Somerset Business Awards grand final, which will take place at the Winter Gardens Pavilion in Weston-Super-Mare on 22nd March 2024.
