The headline act for the 28th annual Glastonbury Abbey Extravaganza has finally been revealed, with alt rock stars Keane set to take to the stage on Saturday 3rd August 2024.
Keane, originating from Battle, East Sussex, are one of Britain’s best loved bands, comprised of Tim Rice-Oxley (composer and pianist), Tom Chaplin (lead vocals), Richard Hughes (drummer), and since joining the band fully in 2011, Jesse Quin (Bass).
Songwriter Tim Rice-Oxley and singer Tom Chaplin were school friends in East Sussex before forming Keane. Their enduring appeal revolves around the honesty of their songs and the emotion in the music. They are as relevant today as they were twenty years ago.
In 2024, Keane are celebrating the 20th anniversary of their debut album ‘Hopes and Fears’ – and their classic smash hit, ‘Somewhere Only We Know’.
The Glastonbury Abbey Extravaganza, presented by the Glastonbury Festival team, is an annual one-night-only music festival hosted in the abbey grounds. The 2023 Extravaganza attracted over 9,000 attendees.
At next year’s event, Keane will be supported by special guests (yet to be announced) and swing tunes from the Shepton Mallet Big Band.
Gates will open at 4:30pm, and the event will end with the traditional fireworks display at 10pm – ensuring the night goes out with a bang.
Advance tickets cost £45 for adults and £25 for children, available now on the Glastonbury Abbey website and from the abbey shop. PLUS members can purchase tickets at the discount price of £40.50 for adults and £20.50 for children.
As always, overnight options are also available in the campsite nearby at the foot of the Tor, which is also open for bookings now. A shuttle bus will operate from the site to the abbey on the night of the Extravaganza.
